Popular Questions and Answers for the Kibbutz Program Center

?Q: How do I apply for the volunteer program

A: First make sure that you fit the criteria stated on the info sheet, and then book a flight and let us know (preferable by E-Mail or fax) when to expect you. When you arrive in the KPC office, the KPC staff will interview you and if you are found fit to participate in the kibbutz volunteer program, we will be happy to give you a kibbutz placement.

Q: How do I get to your office from the airport?

A: Take bus 475 from the airport to Tel Aviv central bus station. Take bus no. 4 to Ben Yehuda ST and ask for Frishman St. If you arrive in the early morning wait in the airport for the first bus. You can take the train via Tel Aviv-central stop (Arlozorov St) and then bus no. 10 to Ben Yehuda St.

Our office is open from 8”00 to 14:00, so, if you arrive in the afternoon or in the weekends (Friday and Saturday) and will have to spend the night in Tel Aviv, take the same bus to Tel Aviv and book in to a hostel. Then come to our office the following morning or Sunday morning. Remember that our weekend is Friday and Saturday and that Sunday is a regular weekday with regular office hours.

Q: What is this Medical certificate that you ask for?

A: You need a statement (preferable in English but acceptable in other languages) from a doctor stating that you are physically and mentally healthy and fit for work in the kibbutz. Some kibbutzes also ask for updated blood tests.

Q: Can situations occur where I won’t have a kibbutz to go to straight away?

A: Almost all volunteers come to the office with their luggage and go straight on to the kibbutz after their registration here. Sometimes in the high season a small part of the volunteer have to wait in the hostels a few days until there is an available kibbutz for them.

Q: Can I know which kibbutz I will go to before I leave my country for Israel?

A: No! When you come to the office we interview you and in accordance with available kibbutzes and the requirements of the work branches that are available we together find you a kibbutz to volunteer on.

Q: Can I choose my work?

A: This is a question of available work places and of which season you wish to arrive in. However, almost all volunteers start their stay in the kibbutz working in the services (kitchen, dinning room and laundry) and then move to other work branches in the kibbutz until they find the place that they like and do best.
